Stop the presses, you’re going to want to read this! The most fervently awaited melee may actually become a reality as Irish mixed martial artist Conor McGregor signs on the dotted line. After lots of speculation and conjecture, It can now be confirmed that the fight of a lifetime between McGregor and American boxer Floyd Mayweather has a good chance of happening. No terms have been confirmed by Mayweather as yet however it has been stated that it will be a straight up boxing match. This news comes hot on the heels of the birth of McGregor’s first child being born and the athlete building his own boxing ring to train in. Financial terms have yet to be released, however, UFC star McGregor made $3 million last August from his rematch with Nate Diaz so expect it to be more than that. McGregor apparently demanded $100 million for the fight to go ahead which was countered by Mayweather with $15 million but time will tell what the figures will actually look like.
For now, we can just get excited about this history making fight… or can it? Dana White, UFC president has confirmed that McGregor is on board but he is yet to lock down the Mayweather camp. So watch this space for more news as we get it.
